Walker & Sloan are recruiting on behalf of a leading, award-winning, B-Corp certified, multi-disciplinary practice with studios in Gloucester and Newport. They deliver sustainable, community-focused design across sectors including residential, education, healthcare, commercial, leisure, sport and defence. **The Role**
We’re seeking an enthusiastic Urban Designer to join our Newport studio. You’ll work on residential layouts, masterplans and design codes for PLC housebuilders, local authorities and private developers, producing innovative designs that put people and place at the heart of every scheme. You’ll be supported by senior colleagues and have the opportunity to develop your own projects and client relationships.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop residential layouts and masterplans from concept to planning submission
- Prepare design and access statements, design codes and illustrative material
- Produce high-quality drawings and presentations using Vectorworks
- Contribute to public consultations and stakeholder engagement
- Work collaboratively with architects, planners and landscape colleagues
- Incorporate sustainability, accessibility and placemaking principles into designs

**Skills & Experience**
- Degree in Urban Design, Architecture or related field
- Experience of UK residential masterplanning
- Proficient in Vectorworks and Adobe Creative Suite
- Good knowledge of planning policy and housing standards
- Strong graphic, written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative, proactive approach and willingness to learn
