**Job summary**:
Are you a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion to become a CBT therapist? Do you have some knowledge and interest in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, experience working with young people, and feel ready to take the next step in your career?
If you have a core profession in mental health (this is essential), you may be the just person. Perhaps you are a nurse, an OT, or a social worker, with a desire to develop your therapy skills. We have two available training posts to expand our therapeutic team.
You will attend university 2 days per week. During the remaining part of the week, you will work as a trainee in a dynamic community CAMHS service, under close supervision, working within the limits of your experience for your stage of training. You will need to have flexibility and adaptability and a passion for working with young people, and their families/carers.
We have two posts, one based in the West of the county, in Taunton, the other in the East of the county, in Yeovil.
**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
You'll be enrolled in a postgraduate diploma programme, with the University of Exeter, so you must be able to demonstrate an ability to study at postgraduate level. This is part time study and will cover core skills in working with young people and their families, alongside CBT for Depression and Anxiety Disorders.

**Job description**:
To undertake a range of procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevant practice.
To undertake training to be able to deliver cognitive behavioural therapy for a range of mental health difficulties to children and young people.
To ensure that all appropriate assessments, plans and interventions are formulated within established, evidence-based systems and methods.
To identify and discuss a range of health and social care needs with service users, carers and other professionals.
To identify realistic and measurable goals /targets utilising evidence based approaches.
To provide support and advice to service users, carers, colleagues and other professionals.
To provide other healthcare professionals with specialised advice regarding mental health issues.
To evaluate and reflect upon the quality of care given and the goals achieved.
Be responsible for maintaining and influencing professional standards in relation to government policy, frameworks and Trust directives.

**Essential**:
Recognised professional qualification in nursing, social work or occupational therapy
Evidence of continuous post-qualifying professional development.
**Desirable**:
Post-qualifying training in therapeutic interventions.
**Experience**:
**Essential**:
Knowledge and understanding of mental health in children and young people, and their impact on both the client group and their families/carers.
Knowledge of a wide range of evidence-based treatment/therapeutic interventions.
Knowledge and experience of risk assessment and risk management planning with high risk young people.
Experience of working with children and young people.
Experience of multi-agency working.
Experience and understanding of Safeguarding Children and other relevant legislation and policies.

**Essential**:
Excellent organisational skills, ability to manage own time and plan timed activities, including building in travel time to and between appointments.
Able to deliver to targets and deadlines.
Evidence of a good standard of Literacy / English language skills.
Must be a car driver with a valid driving licence or have access to transport with appropriate business insurance in order to travel throughout the Trust, to meet the needs of the service.
