This is an exciting time to join the Area Incident Team. You will play an important role in planning for, responding to and recovering from environmental incidents in Kent and South London.
- Working with several teams across the area, you will develop and maintain multi-functional strategic and tactical plans, aligning these plans with operational and site-specific plans developed by environment management teams.
- By having an oversight of incident management across the area, you will ensure our plans are kept up to date, reflect lessons that have been identified and reviewed cyclically.
- Working with the Senior Advisor, you will review our area incident management risk register and appraise environmental risks, identifying any existing and emerging risks, identify capability gaps and suggest appropriate and proportionate mitigation.
- You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with an extensive number of internal and external stakeholders, to ensure that we continue to effectively safeguard the environment from pollution to land, water and air. Whilst your focus will be on environmental incident planning, you will also have the opportunity to be involved in seasonal incident readiness campaigns, cross functional training and exercising and engaging with Local Resilience Forums.

The team
- The Area Incident Team is at the heart of incident management in Kent and South London, ensuring we are ready to respond to incidents.
- We work with Local Resilience Forums and teams across the area to identify and mitigate risks to the environment and our business by developing robust emergency plans. Working with a variety of teams, we deliver training and exercising to ensure our duty officers feel confident to undertake their duty role.

Experience/skills required
- Able to communicate effectively and build strong relationships internally and externally with a range of partners and stakeholders to help deliver environmental outcomes
- Solve complex problems by developing solutions that align with organisational plans and strategies
- Be organised by prioritising your time on what matters the most
- Delivering results through others and working collaboratively both inside and outside of the team
- Coaching and mentoring team members in line with their development needs
- An understanding of the Environment Agency and / or incident management
- Able to demonstrate an inclusive, health, safety, and wellbeing culture.

You will be a natural technical leader who has good understanding and experience of environmental incidents.
You will have an agile and dynamic approach to situations, enabling you to continuously re-prioritise your work without losing sight of the long-term vision and our ambitions set out in our incident management strategy
