The Central Investigation Team are looking for a support officer who is interested in patient safety and improving the quality of services that are provided.

We are a small team who work very closely with the clinical care groups and the wider patient safety team. Our team of investigators value the input this support officer role provides and will ensure that you feel part of the team quickly.

This role ensures that we continue to work effectively as a team and maintain the high investigation standards to improve patient safety across the organisation. An interesting and varied role that requires an eye for detail.

You will be part of a motivated Central Investigation Team (CIT). We are a passionate team with high standards and work hard to manage and maintain the high quality of our investigations.

The team review and investigate some very sensitive incidents on behalf of patients, families and the organisation. The team view this as a privilege and keep sight of the patient and family members at all times in the work that they do.

As a team we recognise the potential emotional impact of the role and are very supportive of each other.

The support officer provides essential support for the team’s investigators and would need to have the following skills:
Planning and organisational skills to support investigation into serious incidents, complaints and other incidents.

Ability to provide and gather all relevant information, and support the process of an investigation.

Have an inquisitive mind and analytical skills to question and understand what is seen and heard.

Ability to produce well written reports.

Skill of drawing out themes and trends from reports or data.

Practical tasks would involve; administration, inputting information and data into IT systems, meeting organisation, note taking and effective communication with internal and external teams.

Support the compliance with all statutory reporting requirements.

Provide support to the Serious Incident and Complaint Investigators, gathering information, joining review meetings, producing timelines and supporting completion of investigation reports.

Liaise and communicate with other teams both inside and outside the organisation.

Accurate recording and inputting into system used to report and manage serious incidents and complaints.

Contribute to thematic reviews and themes and trends analysis.
