**Residential Support Worker - Trauma - Mental Health - Guildford**

The provision is based near Guildford, Surrey and provides support for secondary and further education aged young people that require additional support due to complex trauma and mental health needs. The aim is to help young people to develop insight intotheir experiences in order that they can move on from their often damaged traumatic past. You will support them as they take steps to make sense of their lives by providing clear and safe boundaries and achievable goals. This includes positive reinforcementstrategies such as reward charts and free time.

Central to your work will be the need to provide a high level of nurturing which ensures all the basic needs of the young person are met to the highest standard. This includes providing a home that has a warm and friendly atmosphere where great emphasisis placed on building supportive relationships and positive attachments.

**Hours, salary and benefits**:

- Up to 40 hours per week, all year round
- Evenings, weekends and bank holidays

**Responsibilities**:

- To establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe outside of school hours
- Risk assessment and reports
- Administering medication where necessary
- Support the students with independency skills and positive lifestyle choices
- To respond to the varying and changing needs of the school and adapt to any task presented to achieve the smooth running of the school. Some physical intervention may be needed upon occasion, full training on this will be provided
- To promote pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being
- Due to location and travel commitment you MUST have a UK driver's license and access to a car
- Experience of working with trauma and mental health is highly desirable
- Flexibility with shift patterns and a willingness to chip in with extra hours when needed
- Home based skills such as cooking, cleaning and gardening/maintenance
