PA Direct Hertfordshire is a network for Private Support Assistants, also known as Personal Assistants. Our goal is to connect Direct Payment Holders and Private Support Assistants in Hertfordshire to make it easier for you to access work and ensure the DP Holder can get the support they need quickly.

We are looking for people who are, or want to become a Private Support Assistant, to enrol with PA Direct Hertfordshire and be available for work opportunities.

**What positions are available?**

Work is available across Hertfordshire, and we currently have over 50 vacancies to fill.

One of these vacancies is to support a woman in her late 20s, in the Bishop’s Stortford area. For this advert, we will reference this person as DP Holder.

**What does this DP Holder need support with?**

This DP Holder has cerebral palsy and a moderate learning disability and has a team of Personal Assistants that support her with personal care and making meals and general household activities.

This vacancy is to support this person to take part in college-style activities, supporting her to leave the house and access the community. She has not been to college for a year but needs support to reintegrate and do learning-style activities to keep her mind stimulated for when she is ready to go back to college.

She loves animals, art Disney, reading and collects mugs

**What are the hours of work?**

This will start as 4 hours per week initially, days of the week can be flexible.

**What is a PA?**

A Private Support Assistant also known as Personal Assistant (PA) is not the same as a traditional Care Assistant. It is someone employed directly by a person aged 18+ who receives Direct Payments to meet their wellbeing outcomes. Those who need care and/or support are known as Direct Payment Holders or Direct Employers. Sometimes the ‘employer’ is a family member or representative of the person requiring support.

**Am I the right person to support this person?**

Being a Personal Assistant can be suitable for people with other commitments such as other jobs or home commitments. Some of our best PA’s work full or part time in other sectors such as retail, hospitality, beauty and transportation

- Must know Makaton to communicate with this DP Holder, she is also verbal
- A female PA
- Someone who is comfortable around her small, friendly dog
- If you have similar interests, this is a bonus.
- A driver is preferred, and mileage will be paid

Part-time hours: 4-40 per week

**Salary**: £11.00-£16.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
- Weekend availability
- Weekends only

- Signing bonus

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
