The overall purpose of the role is to maintaining and developing control systems (including PLC's and SCADA) that support operations teams and facilitate the efficient and smooth running of the plant, whilst also providing the process data and understandingto others so that they are equipped to fully flourish within their roles.

**Role Accountabilities**
- Recognises that safety is the number one priority to deliver a zero harm culture. Helps to communicate the message that safety vigilance and risk awareness standards need to be upheld and are a focus for all on site.
- Has full awareness of our priorities and targets for sustainability and helps to deliver improvements in our environmental impact throughout all our activities.
- Ensure that continuous personal development opportunities are fully explored. Highlights any shortfalls in skills or knowledge or areas that need improvement.
- Engages with others in their team and outside of it, to promote the transferring of knowledge and understanding to all those that require it.
- Completes planned effective maintenance activities to sustain plant reliability, quality and most of all safety.
- Supports the roadmap for automation and control within the long term plan, while engaging with future developments in technology and new processes
- Supports the overall site engineering vision and strategy that delivers the business objectives.
- Leads small and medium projects, organises the resource required to complete to a plan and takes financial control of the budget
- Assists with the development of any new technologies and innovations that may be adopted to improve automation and control.
- Helps to coordinate the required resources to enable their performance team to deliver the desired business results.
- Works together with other individuals and teams to achieve the challenging targets that are set to maintain high standards of maintenance for the plant.
- Collaborates in the process of setting realistic personal targets that will contribute to achieving both their personal and business goals.

**Required Experience and Qualifications**
- Extensive experience as a Control Engineer
- HNC / Degree Calibre
- PLC knowledge of Allen Bradley / Siemens / WinnCC
- Profibus - DP & PA networks
- Experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with industrial control systems
- Familiarity with Ethernet based industrial networks
- Experience of managing small to medium project budgets The ability to assist with engineering investigations to rectify line failures (maintaining a flexible working pattern to give out of hours support where possible)
- Project Management Knowledge and Experience
- Broad experience of plant instrumentation systems
