Gates Farm Shop is seeking a part-time retail assistant for its large farm shop just outside Oakham. This is a part-time, permanent position, working 2 or 3 days in the week (to be agreed), plus both weekend days every other weekend.

Gates is one of the largest destination home and garden centres in the UK, established 75 years ago by the Gates family. Set in a beautiful rural location, Gates Farm Shop has a focus on offering the finest produce, sourced locally wherever possible and including beef and lamb from our own farm in the village. Still owned and run by the Gates family today, we offer customers great value with a focus on delivering traditional, genuine and friendly customer service.

Our retail assistants play an important role, as they represent Gates when serving many hundreds of our customers every week. This comes with a high degree of trust, and so a strong sense of commitment and attention to detail are essential for this role.

**The role**
- This is a fully customer facing role, serving customers quickly, efficiently and in a friendly manner
- Ensuring customers have the best shopping experience, both in the shop and at the checkout
- Excellent product knowledge in order to advise and answer customer queries
- Caring for stock (rotation is key) to ensure customer leave with food in perfect condition
- Handling deliveries
- Keeping the shop in great shape and looking its best at all times

**About you**
- You will have an interest in food and its provenance
- Have previous customer service and / or shop and till experience
- A team player who is energetic, enthusiastic and passionate about the role
- Be flexible during busy periods, including major holidays and bank holidays
- Excellent customer service skills, a great communicator and a friendly personality
- Professional, responsible and well-presented
