**Job Overview**
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Nutritionist support to join our team in the School Catering sector.

Hours - 4 day working week

Permanent Contract

Location - West Lancs Technology Management Centre, WN8 9TN

Some travel will be required with this role therefore own vehicle is essential. Mileage is paid at 45p per mile.

**Salary**: up to £25,000 (this is the part time salary)

** Responsibilities**

1. **Menu guidance & Nutritional support**

The nutritionist will primarily be responsible for supporting schools on a daily basis, creating and leading a menu checking service for area managers to use. The target of the program is to ensure that all Mellors menus come through the service and that menus are sensed checked before being launched into the business. **The key objective is to ensure we are exceeding the government standards and that our menus are reflective of the quality of food being served in the site. Raising our nutritional profile to our customers who may not all get the option of visiting a site directly themselves (Parents/ family members).**

2. **Menu development**

The nutritionist will support the Food Development team to strengthen menu packs and recipes that are used in the business and during mobilisation periods. Using their skill and knowledge of current health trends the nutritionist will guide the Development Chefs during the recipe writing process. The Nutritionist will offer menu training sessions across the Mellors estate, raising the awareness of good nutrition for our team members and customers. **Key objective: to increase the nutritional value of the food we serve and to engage our staff to positively promote good nutrition in sites which in turn will increase the number of customers that come through our service and support business retention and lead to new business.**

The nutritionist will support marketing with health messages and education write up’s for marketing to promote across the food industry. The nutritionist will positively promote educational activities through our social media platforms and represent Mellors at key food industry meetings. **The main objective is to raise the profile of Mellors with industry experts, which in turn will support new business gains.**

5. **Procurement**

Working closely with our Procurement Manager, the role will bridge the gap between operations, food development and procurement, ensuring all our purchasing meets nutritional standards for schools and that operations have the correct products to satisfy their menu requirements. Liaison with suppliers and brand owners will play a part in the success of this role. **The main objective is to ensure that menus are delivered to school food standards whilst keeping our customers safe from high risk foods such as allergen and intolerance ingredients.**
- A degree in nutrition is desirable although not essential
- Must have three years industry experience in a public health/ nutrition role
- Confident in communicating to large groups of people and controlling challenging meetings/conversations
- Confident in delivering nutrition and food education to children and young adults
- Must be willing to travel and be comfortable driving across locations
- Numeric and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly gain credibility with key stakeholder groups
- Professional, organised, presentable, efficient and self-motivated
- A passion for keeping up to date with research and national health events
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Ability to manage a busy diary independently

Pay: Up to £25,000.00 per year
