This school caters for students with complex needs, PMLD, SLD and some medical needs. You will be required to support children on 1 to 1s and may be required to assist with personal care when necessary. Although experience working with special needs in a school setting is preferred, any personal or professional experience supporting complex needs is what matters in this role. The ideal candidate will need to be resilient, as due to the complex needs of the young people they can exhibit very challenging behaviour. Some of the young people are non-verbal, and there is a wide spectrum of needs catered for. Although the role can have its challenges, the school is lovely, the staff are supportive and it can be incredibly rewarding.
