**Job details**:
By joining the University of Central Lancashire, you’ll become part of a thriving community of talent that’s united by a shared vision - to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision.

Do you want to make a difference and shape the future of veterinary medicine?

We are looking for ambitious individuals to help us train a new generation of highly skilled veterinary professionals who are passionate about animal welfare. The new School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Central Lancashire is an international, research-active institution, the first facility of its kind to open in the county. You will be joining a talented team who are leading the way in modern learning today, committed to widening access and participation in veterinary education. The School is developing further research activities and postgraduate teaching opportunities, along with bespoke teaching and research environments. Collaboration with internal and external research networks is encouraged.

Whether you’re based in practice or in higher education, your valuable skills will help us transform students into industry-ready graduates. Working in state-of-the-art facilities alongside an international team of experienced veterinarians and animal scientists, you’ll lead on designing and delivering innovative teaching while providing outstanding support to students throughout their journey.

We can offer you a rewarding career where you’ll get the opportunities and support you need to advance your career and expertise. For all Veterinary Lecturer roles, you will be given the learning and mentoring support needed to accelerate your development as an academic.

**About the role**:
This is an exciting new opportunity for a veterinary surgeon who is enthusiastic about training the next generation of veterinary surgeons in small mammal, exotic, and wildlife clinical skills, medicine and surgery.

Based primarily at our Preston campus as part of the academic team, you will be responsible for delivering teaching and assessment around all aspects of exotics education, including the handling and clinical assessment of a wide variety of non-traditional-companion animals housed within our partner institution, Myerscough University Centre. Further off-campus teaching both at Myerscough and at our clinical associate veterinary practices is also likely as our students progress through their education.

**About you**:
You will have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a veterinary discipline, along with a strong knowledge and practical experience in veterinary sciences, including expertise in small mammal, exotic, and wildlife medicine, as well as clinical skills. A higher education teaching qualification or professional accreditation (such as PGCHE, FHEA, or equivalent) is desirable, or alternatively, a commitment to achieving this within one year of appointment. Additionally, a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent clinical specialisation will be essential for success in this role. Applicants will also need to have a commitment to animal welfare in practice and understanding of animal ethics together with flexible, creative, and innovative approach to teaching and learning.

**What we can offer you**:
Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits - from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.

We are proud to be a diverse, multicultural university. We are committed to building a truly inclusive culture where diversity is championed. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who will support the diversification within the University and support its development of a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all.

The University is committed to providing a safe environment to study, work and visit, protecting children, young people and adults at risk from harm and abuse. Our safeguarding policy and safer recruitment procedure outlines our approach, alongside other internal policies, procedures and guidance which can be found on our Safeguarding page.
