Exciting opportunities have arisen for a Head of Healthcare to join the Offender Health Directorate working at HMP Lowdham Grange.

We are looking for someone who will be able to provide effective clinical and operational management of prison health services, including monitoring external Service level Agreements which address the Local Health Needs Assessment and ensure delivery against required standards e.g., Prison Health Performance Indicators, Standards for Better Health.

The role will involve leading a large multi-disciplinary team with Mental Health, Physical Health (primary care, extended scope and emergency response) and Substance Misuse services, Pharmacy team alongside psychiatry, psychology and IDD specialist roles. The role will be pivotal in the relationship management with the prison senior management team.

To effectively manage prison healthcare, including monitoring Service Level Agreements with external providers reflecting best practice and meeting commissioner Key Performance Indicators and patient requirements.

To establish and maintain an effective relationship with the Prison Senior Management team and work as a co-opted member of this group.

To identify and implement service improvements through effective management based on a sound analysis of information, interpretation of outcomes

Ensure the delivery of service provision meets the Key Performance
Indicators, where failure to meet KPI’s occurs, put in place processes
and solutions to improve service provision.

To promote and develop effective models of multi-disciplinary care, redesigning care pathways to address health inequalities and reduce inappropriate referrals to secondary care.

To provide professional clinical management leadership to all staff
employed within the service, including those employed via an external SLA, ensuring role clarity, clear, objective setting and individual performance review, promoting development opportunities of all staff.

To ensure that service delivery and improvement is patient focused and that mechanisms are in place to take patient needs and views into account To ensure the service reflects on lessons learnt from complaints, Serious Untoward Incidents and incidents.

To promote the service through local, regional and national forums, conferences and publications.

The Offender Health Directorate is one of the largest and most successful providers of prison healthcare in the UK. The Directorate provide physical, mental health and substance misuse healthcare services in prisons across the East Midlands, Lincolnshire & Leicestershire.

The Directorate provides healthcare to 9 prisons and a short term holding facility.
