**Job Description Summary**:
This posting is for the Instrumentation Specialist position with the Global Performance Testing & Diagnostic organization, part of Gas Power Engineering. The Global Performance Test team executes highly technical services on Gas, Steam, and Combined Cycle plants both in the field and remotely. The successful execution of these global services requires that the team adhere to internal processes while being open to challenges that may arise. Instrumentation Specialists are responsible for installing temporary precision instrumentation and setting up data acquisition system to collect quality performance data as the foundation for the overall quality of service to our customers.
**Essential Responsibilities**

In this role you will:

- Instrumentation specialists provide hands on support for thermal performance testing of steam and gas turbines at combined cycle power plants. While on site, the instrumentation specialist job is labor intensive and requires working at significant heights
- The specialist is expected to execute or provide the technical direction for the installation of test instruments, to accurately measure the pressures, temperatures, flows, kilowatt outputs and emissions required to calculate the thermal performance of the unit(s)
- Support development of testing critical competencies as well as to provide remote support to other instrumentation specialists if needed.
- Support Tool/Template Development and Performance Root Cause Analysis
- Occasionally will be the sole representative of the team while at site, being able to lead the onsite execution while coordinating with the remote engineering team
- Job requires 70% travel to both domestic and international power plant sites. The duration of the field tests typically ranges from one (1) to (12) weeks. Instrumentation Specialists are on call and can be required to travel with little notice.
- Job responsibilities may require working during varying shift schedules and in support of jobs in significantly different time zones.
- Adhere to EHS excellence on all jobs performed at all times.
- Provide insightful job performance feedback to People Leaders
- Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Associate or BS Engineering / Instrumentation Degree or 5 years’ related experience
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in the areas of instrumentation used for thermal performance testing and evaluation
- Willingness and ability to help assist new hire OJT and work with TL to perform Quality Audits
**Desired Characteristics**
- Experience providing technical leadership and direction
- Strong understanding of instrumentation principles
- Experience in testing, and operation of turbines in the field
- Strong understanding of turbine design and operating philosophy
- Strong computer skills
- Must be a self - starter that can work issues to completion with little or no outside assistance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to business leaders and customers
- Fluent in the English language
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Desire for continual improvement and skills development
- Desire to bring forward creative new ideas to help shape future growth opportunities
