As a yard operative for a machine plant hire, your main responsibilities may include:
Maintaining and organizing the yard: You'll be responsible for keeping the yard clean, tidy, and organized. This involves sweeping, pressure washing, and arranging equipment and machines in the yard.

Assisting customers: You'll be the first point of contact for customers who come to hire equipment. You'll need to be able to advise them on which equipment is best for their needs and assist them with the paperwork required for hiring.

Checking and maintaining equipment: Before equipment is hired out, you'll need to inspect it to ensure it's in good working order. You'll also be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and replacing parts.

Loading and unloading equipment: You'll need to be able to safely load and unload equipment onto trucks and trailers. This may involve using forklifts or other lifting equipment.

Delivering equipment: Depending on the company you work for, you may be required to deliver equipment to customers. You'll need to be able to safely transport the equipment and set it up at the customer's site.

Health and safety: You'll need to be aware of health and safety regulations and ensure that all equipment is being used safely and correctly. You may also be responsible for carrying out risk assessments and ensuring that the yard is a safe working environment.

Record keeping: You'll need to keep accurate records of equipment maintenance, inspections, and hire agreements.

Other duties: You may be required to carry out other duties as required by your employer, such as assisting with office tasks or helping out on construction sites.

Overall, as a yard operative for a machine hire company, you'll need to be reliable, hardworking, and have good communication skills. You'll also need to have a good understanding of machinery and equipment, as well as health and safety regulations.

**Salary**: £24,500.00 per year
