New Community Ventures is the trading subsidiary of the charity New Community Network, owners of Central Hall Southampton. With its 750-capacity auditorium, Central Hall is one of the largest event venues in Southampton and plays host to many high-quality artists.

The venue also hosts conferences for high profile clients and is the temporary home to Hope Community School where a large amount of your work/time will be spent.

New Community Network is a Christian organisation, working both locally, and internationally.

**Role Summary**

You will act as the appointed part-time Caretaker for Central Hall, predominantly to look after the maintenance requirements of the on site school. You will act as one of our key holders, opening the building in the morning and responded on the rare occasions to alarm call outs. You will also undertake general maintenance duties at Central Hall as well as carrying out compliance checks. You will be required to assist the events team by setting up rooms for the scheduled room bookings. Given the scope of the role you will need to undergo a DBS check.

**Role Competences**
- Applicants must demonstrate evidence of the detailed competence outlined below to be considered for the post (please outline these in your cover letter)_

1. You must have awareness of COSHH

2. You must also have awareness of Health and Safety legislation (ideally IOSH)

3. A trade skill such as plumbing, or decorating is required

4. You must understand compliance requirements

5. You need to be physically fit enough to lift equipment, climb stairs and complete physical tasks for 4+ hours

6. You must be responsible enough to open and secure buildings (keyholding duties)

7. Given the responsibility of opening the building, good time keeping is vital

**Main tasks and responsibilities**
- Act as a keyholder - opening, and sometimes closing and securing the venue
- Responding to repair requests quickly and in a professional manner
- Adhering to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone
- Undertake compliance checks. This may include emergency lights, fire alarm, visual rigging, fire extinguishers and water (legionella)
- Performing routine cleaning tasks to ensure the building looks clean and professional
- General maintenance duties including plumbing and woodwork
- General painting and decorating
- Basic equipment repairs
- Preparing rooms for meetings and events (lifting of up to 20kg required)
- Monitoring air conditioning and heating levels
- Being courteous, honest, and practical

A good communicator with the ability to liaise with our clients and the on site school
