The Band 6 role requires an experienced, dynamic children’s nurse with eighteen months community and/or special school experience. We also require that you are car driver which is essential. The post holder will be required to support families with assertive caseload management to ensure all aspects of social, emotional, practical and nursing needs are met. You will need to be flexible and forward thinking, able to work independently and as part of a friendly and supportive team delivering nursing care to a diverse caseload. It is essential that you will have excellent clinical and communication skills. The post holder will also be expected to provide leadership and supervision to the Children’s Community Nurses and act as a role model for the delivery of excellent palliative care.
This post requires you to work with children with special needs in an education setting with a multi-professional team., You will require excellent and effective leadership skills in managing the day to day running for the nurses and support workers within school, ensuring the child's needs are met. You must have delegation skills and be able to problem solve and manage change. You will also require a good standard of IT and keyboard skills and knowledge of a number of IT packages such as Word, PAS, e-rostering etc. You should also be able to work under pressure with competing priorities such as reports and submissions for Education and Health Care Plans as well as supporting the Consultant in clinic. You must be competent in a wide variety of clinical skills and competency to maintain credibility and can act on your own initiative

- Utilise clinical proficiency in delivering a high standard of nursing care. Provide managerial and leadership skills to support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse and nursing team to deliver continually improved standards and efficient and effective use of resources.
- Take personal responsibility for actions and omissions, and fully recognise personal accountability.
- To deliver compassionate direct care provision or clinical work with patients, families and populations, to promote public health and well-being.
- The post holder, with awareness of the multiple needs of the patients and their families, will provide skilled children’s nursing care and promote the optimum level of independence and the quality of life for all children within the caseload.
- The post holder will be expected to facilitate and support the access of children who have disabilities/complex needs to enable children to attend educational led activities with their peers.
