**Care Assistants/Support Workers BANK/FLEXIBLE/ZERO HOURS Required for Adult Mental Health Residential Care Home**

We’re looking to welcome a bank of support workers/carers into our team, working at Merrymeet Residential Care Home, in Salford where Saturday and Sunday shifts are currently available 9-5pm. There will be opportunity to accept further shifts and sleepovers (sleepovers paid at hourly rate) to cover holidays/sickness, at both Merrymeet and our sister home, Bradmere in Eccles.

Applicants should be of good character (IE- honest, trustworthy, reliable and respectful), have a minimum of 12 months experience in Psychiatric Adult Mental Health and it would be favourable to have an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or similar qualification).
Any offer of employment is made on the condition that references and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained and satisfactory in respect of the applicant.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To befriend and work with residents as a co-worker with the aim of achieving the objectives as per their care plan.
Encourage/enhance the resident’s skills with regard to personal hygiene and keeping their environment clean.
To assist the resident with developing their skills re, budgeting, shopping, cooking, use of laundry equipment.
To promote and encourage good practice relating to health and safety, health and hygiene and fire and emergency procedures.
Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through befriending, talking, accompanying on social outings, sharing with them activities such as reading, writing, hobbies, sport and recreation.
To assist the resident to an understanding of their emotional needs and enhance skills to coping with same.
To respond to the spiritual, emotional, cultural, physical and mental needs of the resident with respect and value of the individual’s diversity.
To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.
To help in the care of resident’s physical environment and in the general day-today activities of the home.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
To assist the resident to meet the aims of their care plan.
To maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of care/support and management of the home.
To read, write and verbally report as appropriate.
To complete comprehensive handovers at shift changes.
Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and the toilet.
Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence, help in the care and use of aids and personal equipment.
To report verbally to your manager re; all aspects of resident care and support.
Take part in staff meetings, resident reviews and any training as directed.
To liaise with residents, staff, social workers and other multi-disciplinary team members to promote good practise.
To accompany the resident (as per care plan) to any appointments with professional bodies (Psychiatrist, G.P., Social Worker, etc.)
To receive any telephone calls and take comprehensive messages in writing for the Manager/Proprietors attention.
To report any incident affecting or concerning a residents wellbeing to the Manager/Proprietor immediately.
To be conversant with the medication system and to dispense, record and administer medication in accordance with procedure.
To be conversant and willing to perform duties on the Staff Work Rota including washing and ironing, the preparation, cooking and serving of meals, washing up, cleaning, food and kitchen hygiene.
To respond to alarms, answer the door and the telephone and greet visitors.
To inform Manager/Proprietor if any serious difficulty or abnormality takes place.
To be appointed Person in Charge of the Home in the absence of Management.

Pay: £11.44 per hour
Expected hours: 8 - 16 per week
