**About Morden College**:
Morden College is a Charity dedicated to supporting older people. Founded in 1695 by the pioneering merchant, Sir John Morden, the Charity has been at the forefront of enriching older people's lives for more than 300 years. Today the Charity's core purposeis to provide older people who are in need with a home for life, to support them as they grow older, and to provide housing, care, and support, including residential nursing care, if the need arises. We are a strong community, committed to enabling the olderpeople we support to have the highest quality of life, for the rest of their life.
The Charity's Community Services are provided in the Almshouse accommodation on site at Blackheath and at Ralph Perring Court in Beckenham, through the vibrant communal space in the John Morden Centre and the case management approach that proactively identifies,assesses, and supports the most vulnerable in our community.
**About the Role**:
Your role will be to coordinate volunteer activity within the College including: onboarding, training and day-to-day coordination and support of volunteer activity. You will be a point of contact for Morden College volunteers (internal and external) in supportof their activities as well as the conduit for communication to volunteers and prospective volunteers via newsletters and similar communication platforms.
It's important that you're proactive and seek out opportunities, coordinate community hiring and support the management team where needed.
**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
- Ensure that all volunteers adopt and maintain a person-centred approach to the delivery of high-quality services and uphold the principle that each individual is at the centre of our services and the support they require.
- Provide support and training on the supervision and coaching of volunteers including recruitment, induction, training and development, performance management and retention, and following volunteer policies and procedures. Ensuring fair and proportionatetreatment of volunteers where issues arise.
- Have a 'can do' approach which focuses on what matters to individual beneficiaries, think and act creatively to make things happen for them.
- Thank laterally and strategically to ensure Morden College uses people interested in volunteering in the best way possible, ensuring their needs are met as well as uncovering unknown skills, making connections, and pointing people to opportunities to usetheir skills to the maximum.
- Keep abreast of developments in volunteering and best practice, changes in Employment Law and DBS Disclosure as they relate to volunteer management. Explore different approaches to risk management with individual volunteering roles and service development.
- Encourage and engage in harmonious and respectful working with other departments and internal stakeholders, enabling a holistic and efficient service is provided to beneficiaries.
- Comply with safeguarding and other internal procedures for reporting incidents, ensuring compliance with date protection regulations at all times.
- To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including project work, absence cover and taking part in college events.
- You must be proficient in the use of various computer systems and databases including Microsoft Office and online publishing
- You must have previous experience of working in volunteer management, community development and an understanding of community networks and citizenship.
- An inclusive and supportive management style. Experience of communicating with a variety of audiences.
- Has vision, is authentically warm, genuine, trustworthy, honest, reliable, consistent, and caring in all their actions and supports this culture within the organisation.
- A well-developed sense of their own behaviours and how they impact on others
