Grafton Banks Finance is working with an established SME consumer goods business to hire its new Finance Director.

We are seeking a technically strong, commercially oriented and ambitious, forward-thinking individual to take ownership of their Finance, HR, and IT teams. The role will report to the Managing Director, will be part of the board, and will be instrumentalin delivering the businesses growth strategy.

You could be a Financial Controller looking to progress into their first Finance Director role or a Finance Director looking for their next challenge. What is important is that you bring energy and drive to the role, that you have a passion for challengingthe status quo and improving processes, controls, and systems, and that you are commercially astute. Ideally you will be experienced working in SME businesses.

Key responsibilities:

- Ensure timely production and accurate reporting in accordance with internal and external requirements of financial statements.
- Preparation of board packs.
- Manage month end and year end account processes for the business including the preparation of year end statutory accounts and audit files.
- Annual budget and rolling forecasts production.
- Ensure appropriate controls are in place to maximise cash flow forecast and management.
- Production of detailed and insightful financial planning, forecasting and analysis.
- Balance sheet management.
- Review and monitor sales profitability and forecasting.
- Work closely with Sales and Operations on product pricing decisions.
- Work closely with MD to exploit and maximise new business growth opportunities.
- Continuous improvement of systems, processes, and controls.
- Liaison with external stakeholders; banks, auditors, legal advisors, insurance brokers
- Manage payroll.
- Manage Finance, HR and IT teams

Experience, Qualifications, skills:

- Qualified Accountant - CIMA, ACCA, ACA with significant post qualification experience.
- Experienced in SME businesses and comfortable in hands on roles.
- Experienced in a product-based environment is desirable.
- Commercially astute with good business awareness.
- A passion for driving improvements to processes, control, and systems.
- A confident communicator and leader of teams.
- Team player, flexible and adaptable but highly self-motivated.
- Strong IT skills.

This role offers hybrid working with the expectation that you will do 3 - 4 days per week in the office depending on requirements. Benefits include bonus of 10%, £9,600 car allowance, 25 days holiday, and pension.
