**About the Role**
Pay Details: Grade 7 £30,296 - £33,945 + SEN allowance (**pro rata)**

Hours of Work / Weeks per year / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week. Term time only (39 weeks)

Main Place of Work: Ysgol Y Deri, Penarth Site

**Description**:
The governing body wish to appoint a dynamic, caring and energised pupil support worker to join our amazing Pupil Suppot Team.

Under the direction of the Headteacher, the post holder will give specialist advice and support to school to ensure the physical, social and emotional needs of the young people are effectively met.

The post holder will be an active member of the YYD provisions working across Vale settings and will provide primary prevention and early support as well as modelling how to work effectively with young people. The role includes recording, evaluating and reflecting on all aspects of student behaviour.

They will provide practical support, guidance and training in behaviour management and associated strategies to support students’ learning.

They will contribute to advice and guidance to promote the schools universal provision aspects related to ASC and ALN.

The school focus is on inspiring change within our pupils to ensure their successful future.

**About you**
This would ideally suit someone who loves working with children and young people, someone who loves to impart knowledge and support them to thrive.
Applicants must have the ability to view behaviour as communication and have a questioning mindset around this to help formulate skills to teach to improve pupils self regulation and skills for life.
The post holder will have a very strong track record in working successfully with children and young people with a range of ALN presentations, including ASC, and emotional mental health needs.

We are looking for someone who recognises the importance of both high support and high challenge. There will be a focus on breaking down barriers that hamper access to learning.
The post holder is required to support students in developing coping strategies and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Qualities needed are the ability to be intune with own emotional state, personal regulation and to remain calm under pressure. Good listening skills are crutial.

An enhanced and barred child and adult DBS check will be required for these posts.
