Level 3 LSA - Specialist Hearing Support Resource Base - Cogan Primary School Join the Vale of Glamorgan Council as a Level 3 Learning Support Assistant within the Hearing Support Service based at Cogan Primary School, Penarth. You will be part of an energetic and supportive team passionate about educating deaf young people. About the role Pay: Level 3, Grade 5, SCP 8‑12, £26,824‑£28,598 (Pro‑Rata) £13.90‑£14.82 ph, with LSA SEN allowance. Hours: 30 hrs, 5 days per week, Monday – Friday, Term‑Time. Main place of work: Vale of Glamorgan Hearing Resource Base, Cogan Primary School, Penarth. The role involves supporting pupils with hearing loss to access the curriculum using a variety of communication approaches and enabling full participation in all school life activities. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include: Providing in‑class support for individual pupils. One‑to‑one or small group work within the Resource Base. Supporting pupils across progression steps 1‑3. Occasional outreach work in other schools within the Vale of Glamorgan. About you Understanding of the educational and social needs of pupils with hearing loss and additional learning needs. Previous and recent experience working with children in a primary school setting. Ability to support pupils with hearing loss across all curriculum areas. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Good analytical and problem‑solving skills. Able to work independently with initiative but also as part of a team. Good organisational skills. Willing and able to learn new skills. Ability to promote pupils’ independent learning. Good general standard of education, including ‘C’ grade or above in English and Maths GCSE as a minimum. Prepared to undertake relevant training as required. BSL Level 2 or above (or willing to attain this in own time). Willing to carry out outreach work under direction of Teacher of the Deaf as required. Additional information DBS Check Required: Enhanced & Barred Both.
