The Chief of Staff will have a hands-on role directly supporting the CEO to make and execute great decisions, and align the UpSkill strategic team to deliver against its fast-growth ambitions. They will have an immediate impact on the CEO’s productivity and efficiency, aligning strategic and departmental initiatives, providing reliable counsel for difficult decision-making, and improving the flow of information.
To be successful, the Chief of Staff needs strong leadership skills, empathy, and the ability to influence senior managers. They will demonstrate great attention to detail, high levels of diplomacy, as well as being both an analytical and strategic thinker.
The Chief of staff will provide strategic diary, inbox and brand management to the CEO, coordinating and preparing the CEO for all meetings, events and travel plans.
**What are some of the things I will be doing?**
- Act as a gatekeeper to the CEO, being the first point of contact on behalf of the CEO, acting as a representative and handling disputes and organisational dealings with the strategy team before taking them to the CEO
- Prioritising and optimising time (working closely with CEO’s administrative support)
- Managing external stakeholder engagement and all comms associated with their schedule, drafting pitch decks, speeches, and presentations on their behalf.
- Serve as liaison between team, leadership, and CEO regarding project updates, planning, implementation and proposals
- Serve as a critical sounding board for the leadership team, helping to set and refine priorities by defining and assessing strategic choices, conducting scenario planning exercises, and identifying and managing strategic risks
- Leading and organising monthly BGI reporting sessions on behalf of the CEO, coordinating agendas for CEO approval, gathering departmental reports and compiling them into one company report
- Setting up monthly reporting sessions with the department heads on behalf of the CEO and reporting on their BGI progress
- Organise company retreats, conferences, and other special events.
- Provide thought partnership to strategy team on problem-solving specific opportunities or challenges, including regular 1:1s
- Supporting the CEO in strategic inbox and diary management, analysing external opportunities, including long-term travel, meeting plans and events, and assessing if they fit against the CEO priorities
- Lead or contribute to select strategic projects, including:
- Lead generation, sales pipeline development and relationship management with key clients and prospects
- Financial planning and modelling (in partnership with the CFO and DSO)
- Government & industry-level engagement, including advisory board development (sourcing and recruitment)
- Securing speaking and PR opportunities
