Housing Officer - Charity / Third Sector
**PLEASE NOTE - A DBS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE IS WILL BE A DISTINCT ADVANTAGE**
**What are the basics?**
- This is a temporary role, with a strong possibility of becoming long term or even permanent.
- Covering an initial 2 to 3 months.
- Salary of £30,000 per annum (paid weekly).
- Hours 9am to 5pm.
- Monday to Friday.
- Hybrid with mostly home working.
- 1 to 2 days in out in the community, the rest of the time working at home.
- Very flexible in terms of managing your diary day to day.
- Be autonomous and self-sufficient.
**What will you do?**
- Work out the community with tenants who struggle with housing and mental health
- Assist the service manager in the areas of anti-social behaviour, property condition, abandonments, rent arrears etc.
- Liaise with social landlords around housing issues.
- Working on the following: disrepair, fitness for habitation, court processes (in very limited cases).
- Managing the arrears management system.
- Work in partnership with other organisations, charities and services.
- Deal with issues in a compassionate and understanding manner.
- Maintain compliance with legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with properties across Swansea, Caerphilly and Torfaen.
**What do you need?**
- A strong background in housing and tenancy.
- Good understanding of the issues faced by those who struggle with their mental health.
- A non-judgemental and understanding approach.
- Empathetic and caring personality.
- Knowledge of other complex issues e.g. substance misuse, homelessness etc. will be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent record keeping and IT skills.
- A desire to help and support others.
- Understanding of safeguarding of children and adults.
