Acorn is currently hiring a Make Ready Driver/Cleaner in the Bury St Edmunds area.
The successful Make Ready Driver will be responsible for the safe collection and delivery of Trust vehicles. This will include movement between stations, Trust workshops, and other designated vehicle repairers to ensure all vehicles are always driven in a safeand economical manner, and in line with Trust policy, noting that the vehicles are easily identified as belonging to the Trust.
Job summary and key roles:

- Deliver and collect Trust Vehicles between Trust sites and/or external sites/agents
- Confirm with Make Ready staff that the vehicle they are due to move has the correct levels of stock and equipment assets assigned
- Undertake 'vehicle checks' to ensure legal tyres, functioning lights, sufficient oil and coolant, and fuel for the journey being completed, in accordance with Trust Policy
- Report any defects that arise during the collection, delivery, or road test to Make Ready staff and or workshops staff prior to the vehicle being handed over to the user of that vehicle
- To be responsible for the safe keeping of any fuel card or mobile phone issued to the individual during their period of work and to return such items prior to the end of their duty
- Undertake extended road tests of vehicles as advised or required after either a Trust workshop or other workshop repair has been undertaken prior to them going back into service, reporting any concerns back to the workshops
- Report as soon as practical, any loss or theft of such items, immediately to their Line Manager
- Maintain contact with their Line Manager should they be required to be absent due to sickness
- Undertake the cleaning aspects of vehicle preparation to the agreed standard ready for operational duty - this will include, as a minimum:

- Cleaning/decontaminating the inside of Trust vehicles, including all surfaces and equipment to an agreed IPC standard.
- External cleaning of Trust vehicles
- Check the consumable levels of the vehicle including fuel, AdBlue, screen washer and any others, as trained.
- Provide any additional support as may be required by the Trust in the event of a Major Incident.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- A Clean, Valid UK driving licence with a C1 category
- Able to reactively plan working day based on operational requirements and changes to pre-planned work
- To be competent in the use of specialist tools such as pressure washers, steam cleaners and valeting equipment
- Ability to self-manage workload and priorities without direct supervision
Contract: full-time, temporary ongoing placement
Dutation: an initial 3-month period
Pay: £10.19-£18.65 per hour
