The central Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) was established to strategically advance equality, diversity and inclusion at UCL. The team draws from diverse expertise to provide expert advice, engagement and support to faculties and departments to advance inclusion initiatives and good practice at UCL, and to mainstream the UCL values of Openness and Inclusion, Care and Respect, Integrity and Mutual Accountability and Rigour and Innovation.
**About the role**:
As Head of EDI (Behaviour & Culture Change) you will drive forward the development and delivery of behaviour and culture change initiatives within UCL's institutional EDI strategy while managing day to day EDI issues.
Acting as co-leader of the EDI team, you will lead the team and support the implementation of an evidence based EDI strategy which supports the delivery of UCL's wider corporate plan. As part of the leadership team you will regularly engage with key senior stakeholders (including the Pro Provost for Equity and Inclusion) in providing expert guidance and support for EDI.
Your responsibilities will involve (but are not limited to) the following:
- Develop and implement scaled up EDI & Learning & Development interventions
- Provide strategic support and build capability of steering groups and diversity networks
- Develop and deliver behaviour and culture change action plans and projects
- Provide expert EDI advice on reactive and emerging issues that have an impact on EDI
- Regularly engage with leaders within the EDI community such as Deans, Vice Deans, Programme Directors etc.
- Line manage (including goal setting and performance monitoring) and develop members of the EDI team (including EDI Managers)
- Establish a programme and timeline for reviewing HR and student policies embedding good EDI practice.

**About you**:
As an EDI professional, you have experience leading on various EDI programmes and change initiatives across various themes (including gender, race, disability, LGBTQ, bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct) and have an understanding of the challenges implementing change within large complex institutions.
Using your influencing skills you're able to guide and advise senior stakeholders on challenging EDI issues and are able to respond to complex or sensitive issues in a nuanced way to promote positive change. Additionally, you have strong project management capabilities and have the ability to see projects through to completion.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience leading and line managing a team
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with senior leadership
- Knowledge and understanding of the political and strategic EDI landscape at UK universities
- An understanding of how the Equality Act 2010 works in practice, including positive action and reasonable adjustments
- The ability to deliver at pace and use strategic and stakeholder engagement skills to overcome barriers and challenges to the delivery of your work
Although not essential, any experience working within higher education would be advantageous.
