Teaching Assistant

The pay per day is very competitive starting at £64 - £85 depending on experience, based on a 6-hour shift. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and busy school with excellent facilities and a supportive leadership team.

Your main responsibilities will be:

- To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children ages 3 - 19 years.
- To ensure that the school is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
- To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
- To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the SLT.
- To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
- To help ensure the school meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
- To understand and work to school policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately, working with SEN/SEMH/ADHD
- To plan activities which ensure each pupil is working towards their learning goals.
- To be a key person, keeping accurate assessments of children’s learning and progress.
- To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments.
- To liaise closely with parents/carers/social workers informing them about the school and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
- To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plans for each pupil.

You will have:

- Experience working in a care environment eg care home/Nursing home
- Working with Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), Visual Impairment, Epilepsy, Sensory Impairment, Physical Disabilities, Speech Language and Communicational Needs including Non-Verbal, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Behavioural Needs and Autism
- Experienced any of the following training; Makaton, PECS, BSL, Team Teach, Manual Handling, Safeguarding, Epilepsy Training
- Happy to work with pupils on a 1:1 or group basis
- Experience working in a challenging environment
- Passionate, friendly and outgoing
- Comfortable with Personal Care (if required)
- An ability to improvise and support others in impromptu situations
- Experience of working in a school or nursery setting.
- A clear enhanced DBS on the update service.
- Two references from within an educational/nursery environment/Support worker.
- Ability to work well as part of a professional team.
- Able to work and take part in various activities.
- The ability to communicate with and inspire children of all abilities.
