Finance Head of Property Services

As our Finance Head of Property Services you'll be joining the senior finance leadership team, ultimately responsible for the delivery of all internal financial reporting to the maintenance division of Aster. You will present financial reports to senior leaders and provide insights to aid in strategic decision-making.

Acting as a strategic business partner to senior directors and heads of service across the Group and leading a team of management accountants to produce an accurate and timely month-end process.

An agent for change across the whole of finance, identifying, assessing and implementing process improvements and engendering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Producing monthly management accounts ensuring month end deadlines are met and reviewing the accounts for accuracy
- Creating adhoc reports as required, primarily though PowerBI
- Presenting financial reports to senior leaders, translating financial reports for non financial colleagues
- Leading the budgeting and forecasting process for the maintenance division and feeding information into the long term business plan
- Acting as a business partner to senior directors and heads of services across the Group
- Managing and motivating a team of 7 colleagues with 2 direct line reports
- Being the main stakeholder to external audit for the maintenance division
- Providing cover and support for the responsibilities of the financial reporting team as required
- Leading, developing and motivating the financial accounts team
- Creating and maintaining systems that provide for continuing development through professional courses, internal training and secondment.
- Fully qualified with extensive experience within the management accounts discipline of accountancy.
- A strong communicator who is able to translate financial reporting to operational directors.
- Having the ability to lead and motivate the maintenance financial reporting team, whilst managing teams across finance and relationships across the business up to director level.
- Able to create and maintain systems that provide for the continuing development of the financial accounting team, through professional courses and internal training. Also, an environment where continual improvement in service delivery and “right first time” are shared goals throughout the team, with clear written processes and a creative culture to ensure that all team members work together to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong all-round IT skills where expert-level Excel skills are essential. Being able to create reports from Power BI and other finance systems.
- Experience in the housing or construction sector would be desirable.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and present information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to manage workload and deliver outputs to specific deadlines.
