We are seeking to appoint a permanent Degree Apprenticeships Compliance Officer (Contracts) to work within the Education Group as part of the Work-Based & Professional Learning Team.

**JOB PURPOSE**

The post holder will support the Head of Work-Based & Professional Learning, other Professional Services staff and academic departments through provision of high quality, audit ready management of contracts data to ensure compliance of Degree Apprenticeship programmes with our statutory obligations.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. Identify significant statutory and legislative risk to the University from the provision of apprenticeship training, summarise these to senior management and develop solutions to mitigate risk and protect the University. Such risks may include financial penalties for non-compliance with statutory obligations, revocation of the University's registration with the Education & Skills Funding Agency and reputational damage. Maintain an up to date specialist knowledge of UK and particularly English apprenticeship legislation, ensure that key internal stakeholders are informed of relevant changes, and advise on any necessary follow up actions. Lead on any required system and process development from a compliance perspective.

2. Act as a lead representative for Degree Apprenticeships compliance in creating and maintaining contracts with employers and sub-contractors. Work with the Programmes Managers, academic and professional service departments to facilitate the apprenticeship contracting processes including the maintenance of a log, to ensure that appropriate GDPR compliant agreements are in place. Work closely with Internal Audit to monitor compliance with statutory and legislative obligations across the institution to mitigate risk to the University. Manage the collation, validation and assurance of Apprentice data into internal and external systems to ensure that accurate Individualised Learner Records can be produced. Work with academic Departments to ensure that apprentice evidence packs are up to date and compliant through regular evaluation and audit at department level. Advise and guide academic departments to ensure that the requirements for off-the-job training of apprentices is met and recorded appropriately. Provide expert input into compliance training of University staff and employees of employer-partners. Such staff would include Apprenticeship Tutors, course leads, line managers and mentors.

3. Assist the Programmes Managers in advising external stakeholders of statutory and legislative requirements to help ensure that their data, systems and processes are compliant and match data held by the University. This may include advising on compliance sections of forms, providing up to date specialist knowledge on UK and particularly English Apprenticeship legislation and reforms, notifying employers if their Apprentice data is incorrect and requesting that they make appropriate updates.

4. Assist in developing an embedded culture of compliance and risk management across the institution on all Degree Apprenticeship programmes. Act as a key point of contact for any enquiries about compliance and risk management of Degree Apprenticeship Programmes.

5. Undertake any relevant duties as directed by the Head of Work-Based & Professional Learning.
