We are now looking for a part-time Support Worker to join a stable support team working with a young man living with cerebral palsy and epilepsy in his own home in Carlyon Bay.

**The Role**
As a Support Worker, you’ll work as part of a team providing support and care for our client, ensuring his safety and physical wellbeing and facilitating his independence.
Our client is a man in his twenties who sustained a birth injury and consequently presents with mild cerebral palsy, treatment resistant epilepsy, left sided hemiplegia and mild to moderate learning disabilities.
He can experience a significant number of seizures each month. He has previously sustained serious injuries during seizure activity. You will take precautions to protect him and inform the relevant parties of any changes to his health, functioning or behaviour,
You will support him with all areas of daily living, including personal care, domestic activities, vocational activities, leisure activities and socialising. You will treat him with respect and dignity, speak to and think of him in a non-judgemental, caringway, respecting his individuality.
Additionally, you will:
- Assist him to exercise choice as far as possible, but with consideration of cognitive issues
- Enable him to use local amenities and attend community events
- Liaise with and support the family as required
- Work as part of a team and communicate appropriately with fellow team members.
- Deliver programmes of educational, social and therapeutic development
**About You**
To be considered as a Support Worker, you’ll need:
- Some experience of caring or providing care for clients with physical and communication difficulties
- Good understanding of the personal and physical needs of a client with physical and
cognitive difficulties
- The ability to follow instructions and/or guidance
- Consideration of others and of the family
- A full, valid driving licence
Other organisations may call this role Support Worker, Care Worker, Healthcare Worker, Healthcare Co-ordinator, Care Co-ordinator, Social Care Worker, Care Assistant or Healthcare Assistant.
This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
