Assistant Finance Business Partner

**Role Summary**

The Assistant Finance Business Partner will work as part of the Finance Team to provide accurate and timely financial information which will support the effective running of the business unit (BU). They are required to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with all staff within the BU. They will possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, have strong commercial awareness, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

**Key Objectives of the Role**
- Provides support in ensuring that the rules, principles and the internal control requirements of the Company and Group are met
- Ensure the Business Unit meets all its financial reporting obligations
- The below responsibilities will initially focus on Kelvin Power Structures

**Responsibilities and Accountabilities**

General Accounting
- Make sure transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner and in accordance with the group and accounting rules
- Justification of the Balance Sheet figures by performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare all month end tasks such as accruals, prepayments and closing of ledgers
- Monitor and report off-balance sheet commitments
- Support audit inquiries as required

Payroll & Tax
- Succession to the Finance BP, to provide support and assistance to the payroll administrator when required
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and monthly EC Sales and Intrastat submissions
- Compute Deferred tax workings for group and statutory workings

Project Accounting and Monitoring
- Support the Finance BP by providing relevant information so that the Project Managers can understanding their projects
- Support the Finance BP in Coaching Project Managers on the Project Accounting Systems so they can effectively monitor their projects

Cash Management
- Ensure effective and efficient credit control within your area
- Support to the administrators to make sure the setting up and payment of suppliers are performed in accordance with our control procedures and agreed payment terms

Control and Reporting
- Ensure all monthly (TBM) and quarterly (Vision, P Tables) BU and Group reporting is done within the set timescales
- Support the statutory year end audit by providing the necessary information
- Timesheet upload for all legal entities

Administration & Other
- Participate in the administration of the BU and the team
- Involvement in ad-hoc projects that deliver real improvements in the effective management of the BU
- Reception cover as and when required
- Live the values of the group.

**Person Specification**

Qualifications and training
- CIMA, Degree, AAT or equivalent accounting qualification

Skills and Experience

Communication
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills are imperative for this role. The person will need to be a confident communicator, across all levels both internally and externally
- Friendly and approachable manner, able to build and sustain relationships based on trust at all levels

Quality and Accuracy
- An eye for detail, focused on quality and accuracy, within a face paced environment, without compromising deadlines.
- Ability to use sound judgement to ensure the appropriate messages are delivered

Financial
- Strong financial skills applied in a project costing context
- Ability to analyse and interpret variances
- Good knowledge of basic accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Timesheets
- Cash Management

IT
- Strong IT skills in particular, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Knowledge of Oracle preferable

**Salary**: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
