**The Role**
**Position**:Full-time, permanent
**Title**: Litigation Support Assistant
**Days**: Monday to Friday
**Hours**: 35 hours p/w, within our core hours of 8am to 6pm
**Location**: Glasgow Queen Street. This is an office-based role with daily duties that cannot be performed remotely.
**Salary**: £21,000 - £25,000 (depending on experience)
Friends Legal are a firm of solicitors based in Glasgow, representing clients throughout Scotland. We have specialist litigation teams in motor injury, laser eye negligence and clinical negligence.
Employees are trained to meet exacting service level agreements and deliver exceptional client care. We operate a relaxed team environment involving support staff, claims negotiators, paralegals and solicitors.
**Purpose of Role**
We currently have a vacancy in our administration department for a Litigation Support Assistant, in a full-time position working 35 hours per week. We are looking for someone interested in a support role, able to commit long-term, who takes pride in the work that they do to support our client-facing paralegals and solicitors.
**Key experience and skills required**:
- A pleasant, professional and confident telephone manner, with a great deal of patience and understanding of our often vulnerable clients
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly and efficiently, retaining information following full and comprehensive training
- Excellent IT skills are essential, with experience working with Microsoft Office packages
- A positive, inclusive and driven team player
- Methodical approach to work, with good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload without requiring heavy direction
**Desirable**:
- Knowledge of the Civil Court procedure
- Experience working in a law firm
- Experience of working with case management systems
**Court Administration Duties**:
- Serving Civil Court actions, including Summary Cause, Ordinary Cause and Simple Procedure with stylised documentation
- Reviewing the Court Admin Diary and making sure we comply with the Court timetable requirements before due dates
- Drafting stylised court documents
- Intimating documents on third party solicitors and lodging documents with the court
- Diarising court dates and reminders in our case management system
- Monitoring our Motions mailbox and taking action on requests therein
**Basic Administration Duties**:
- Opening, referencing, scanning and allocating incoming mail and sensitive medical records
- Printing, collating and processing outgoing Royal Mail and Recorded Delivery
- Responsibility for answering our main switchboard calls and relaying these calls to the appropriate staff or taking messages where required
- Quick and accurate data entry in setting up new claims on our case management system
- Monitoring several team shared mailbox and actioning the requests within reasonable timescales
