**About us**
Roots Restoration is a community-based company aiming to tackle prominent issues faced within communities all over the world and putting solutions in place.
Mind over Matter is a Wellbeing support group targeting the Global Majority, aimed at empowering individuals to take control of their Mental Health. We aim to not only create awareness of mental health issues faced within the community, but also provide practical tools to help cope with everyday struggles.
Our support group has three key objectives:
- Bridging the gap between the Global Majority and accessing mainstream/specialist services
- Creating awareness and understanding of Mental health.
- Providing Information and advocacy services.
We are looking for 4 passionate, self-motivated, and community-minded individuals, to run our well-being support group on a weekly basis. The facilitators will take a holistic, person-centred approach, guiding and providing the group with the tools to better manage their daily challenges.
Facilitators will be expected to deliver our tailored programme which aims to improve overall health and well-being, whilst bringing their wealth of experience and own ideas to the sessions. Facilitators will also ensure productive discussions, encourage active participation, and help the group achieve desired outcomes. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, strong communication, and the ability to manage group dynamics effectively.
Our programme will run in 6 London boroughs consisting of:
- Lewisham,
- Wandsworth
- Tower hamlets
- Hackney
- Haringey
- Harrow.
Each programme will last for 6 weeks, with each weekly session lasting for 2 hours.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Structuring each session to ensure it follows the programme.
- Supporting vulnerable adults who may be suffering with mental ill health.
- Ensuring that individuals feel safe and comfortable within a group setting.
- Manage group dynamics, resolving conflicts, and keeping discussions on track.
- Educating individuals about their mental health and providing tools to improve overall well-being.
- Adjust session plans in response to group needs or unforeseen challenges.
- Coordinating activities, resources, equipment, and information.
- Completing required paperwork, including attendance registers, feedback/evaluations forms, and debrief forms after each session.
- Liaising with the project co-ordinator to ensure all documentation is submitted correctly and in a timely fashion.
- Working collaboratively in a team to ensure individuals in the group are engaged and included.
- Sign posting individuals to alternative services if they need additional support.
**Key Skills and Requirements**
Essential:
- Recent DBS checks
- Qualified mental health professional.
- Experience working with vulnerable people.
- Experience of facilitating/co-facilitating group workshops.
- Conflict Resolution-skilled in managing disagreements and facilitating resolution in a non-confrontational manner.
- Ability to work in a team collaboratively and in a professional manor.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Understanding of self-help approaches and empowerment in mental health
- Cultural Competency
- awareness of and sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds and group dynamics.
Desirable:
- Experience working with a community group.
- Mental health first aid
