The Assistant Principal, Student Services is a senior leadership position with responsibility for key aspects of the support provided to students such as safeguarding, attendance and additional learning support. The postholder will also oversee the financial support offered to students and our behaviour systems. We are seeking an outstanding educational professional with strategic vision to lead and develop this area of the College and join our lively leadership team.

**Person Specification**

**Knowledge, Understanding & Experience**

1. A good honours degree.

2. Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.

3. Significant experience of working with A level students and experience of teaching A levels will be an advantage.

4. Knowledge and understanding of the particular needs of A level students and of how to provide the systems and services which help them complete their courses successfully.

5. Understanding and experience of safeguarding and child protection processes in a school or sixth form setting with relevant training.

6. Understanding of the additional learning support needs which some students have and the ability to supervise and evaluate how well those needs are being met.

7. Experience of and commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity and equality as well as

successfully supporting students from socio-economically less advantaged backgrounds.

8. Experience of event-planning and the necessary attention to detail required.

9. Highly developed inter-personal skills and emotional intelligence.

10. The ability to establish positive and sensitive relationships with colleagues.

11. A rich repertoire of strategies for working with young people who are facing difficulties.

12. Determination to support young people in improving their attendance and behaviour and overseeing the systems deployed throughout the College which share this focus.

13. The expertise to lead on safeguarding across the Trust and report to the Board as necessary.

14. Experience of contributing to training and professional development.

15. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

16. Excellent planning, organisation and administrative skills.

17. Proven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and to prioritise and manage your personal workload.

18. Commitment and energy to improve young people’s experiences throughout their time at College.

19. Strong track record in a staff leadership role with the ability to lead and support team members and others.

20. Ability to create a strong vision and think strategically in order to plan and lead change.
