Send Ks3 Ta

A lovely SEND school located in Bromsgrove (B60) is looking for a caring and calm teaching assistant (TA) to join their dedicated KS3 team.
- The full-time position covers the hours 8:30-3:45 Monday-Friday.
- The role will involve supporting a mixed-age KS3 class where students have SLD, complex needs and require personal care.
- The TA appointed will build up a positive rapport with the students and support them in accessing the curriculum and carrying out day-to-day activities.
- Students are non-verbal and use PECS and Makaton to communicate. The TA appointed will need to have an understanding of these methods and show a willingness to learn.
- This role is a great opportunity for an already experienced TA who is looking to take on an exciting new challenge or for someone with previous SEND experience who is looking to move into the education sector.

The location:

- The SEND school is situated in Bromsgrove (B60). It is easily accessible via public transport.
- On school premises there is a secure staff carpark.
- The school is widely regarded locally for its fantastic, inclusive provision, providing education for pupils and students aged 4-19.
- Class sizes are small with experienced and fully trained support staff.
- Lessons are often sensory based, staff use creative methods to make activities engaging, accessible and fun for students.
- The school has a variety of amazing facilities including forest school, vegetable patch, indoor swimming pool and drama studio.
- Have a child and adult enhanced DBS on the update service or in the process of getting one (essential).
- Be a reliable member of staff with a ‘can do’ attitude (essential).
- Be approachable and demonstrate a willingness to build positive student relationships (essential).
- Remain calm in a busy environment (essential).
- Be able to provide personal care (essential).
- Be able to communicate using PECS and Makaton (not essential - training will be provided).
