We provide 24-hour residential care and support to children between 11-17 years of age, some of whom may have emotional or behavioural difficulties.

We are looking for determined, resilient people who have a calm but confident personality, a great sense of humour and a willingness to work with vulnerable teenagers with EBD.

With our structured pay-scales and clear career progression, we can support you with the training and experience you need to develop into a more senior role, Deputy Manager or Residential Manager. Highview Children’s Home is built around accepting a child as they are in a non-judgmental way. You will teach them to build self-esteem and accept themselves, helping their journey through adolescence and into young adulthood.
**What this job involves**:
1. Establishing meaningful relationships and providing practical/emotional support to the children/young people living with us. Contribute towards the provision of a secure, stable and supportive environment that enables our residents to build the life-skills and resilience needed to make the transition from living in care to living independently.
2. To support the children/young people with their daily routines and care needs in line with their assigned care plan. Act as a good role model for the children and young people in the Home, offering good advice, guidance and assistance when needed.
3. To support children and young people to make their own choices and decisions, ensuring that their needs and wishes are fully considered in decisions relating to them. To enable children/young people to develop their social skills, and to access educational and leisure activities and promote their participation in these.
4. To ensure the protection of the children and young people from significant harm, by, observing changes in children’s behaviour or appearance and complying fully with the Home’s Safeguarding & Child Protection policy.
5. You will be responsible for key working named children, writing reports, maintaining up to date daily records and attending meetings with external professionals and other duties allocated to you.
6. Being knowledgeable of and following relevant policies and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the Home.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:
- Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts during day times, wake nights and weekends.
- Willingness to study and complete further training as identified by the manager.
- Enhanced DBS signed up to the update service.
**EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS**
**Required**:.
- Prior Experience of working with children and young people with EBD
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to relate well to children and young people
- Ability to communicate with parents carers and other professionals
- Good time management and organisational skills
**Desirable**:
- Minimum Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Prior experience working in a residential setting with children / young people
- Working Knowledge of residential childcare practice
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding & child protection practice
- Knowledge of Key working children
