The Royal College of Art (RCA) is the UK’s only entirely postgraduate institution of art and design, dedicated to teaching, research and knowledge exchange with industry. We are looking for Data Protection, Records and Information Officer to build and promote a good information and record management culture, by ensuring that all colleagues in their respective areas, comply with best practice in information management standards and policies. The post holder will also have day-to-day responsibility for data protection and FOI issues at the College, providing advice and guidance to staff in line with relevant legislation.

This is a key role within the College, requiring an individual with excellent communication skills both verbal and written, capable of building and managing relationships with colleagues and senior managers.

Highly organised, with the ability to quickly understand and get to grips with the role, you will be expected to work independently with enthusiasm in a fast paced environment.

You will have experience in either Google or Microsoft productivity suites and will be required to liaise with IT and Library Services staff, as well as key administrative staff.

Key responsibilities:

- Establish useful guidance and procedures around records management best practice, to assist staff in managing information day-to-day in order to facilitate information access, use and reuse where appropriate, as well as timely deletion of information when it is no longer required.
- Design and project manage new Records Management structures on Google drive.
- Provide guidance on policy and best practice for training materials
- Develop and maintain records management policies for use at RCA.
- Lead on the ongoing development and implementation of the College’s data protection, freedom of information and environmental information policies and procedures.
- Lead the development of the College’s arrangements (e.g. guidance on legislation and records management practices, appropriate policies and processes, training provision, communications, databases) to support the College’s response to information legislation and to deliver best practice business benefits.
