Data Protection Compliance Officer

To work as a member of the team responding to Subject Access Requests and other lawful requests to personal and corporate information held by the Trust. This will require the post holder to learn multiple IT systems and new ways of working. You will be accessing sensitive and confidential health information along with staff files to meet tight deadlines for disclosure. This is a challenging but rewarding role helping the Trust meet its obligations under UK laws.
To be responsible for meeting deadlines by allocating and prioritising workload in the Disclosure Office.
To assist with the day-to
- day support and induction of more junior staff.
To be IT literate with good Microsoft product skills (mainly Word and Excel)
To ensure that all personal identifiable information is processed in a secure manner and to ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times
To work as part of the Information Governance Team
To assist in the delivery of the IG team's workload which is in excess of 300 disclosure requests a month, including Health Records and Human Resources files.
You will be a member of a team of approximately 8 colleagues working to meet disclosures to a tight schedule. The office offers a good natured and supportive environment which will help you develop your skills and knowledge.
There is the need for attention to detail and the ability to concentrate for long periods, although there is often moments of light hearted interactions with those you work with.
To work on own initiative to prioritise, assist with the management and allocation of the administrative workload of the department within clearly defined policies and procedures, but understands when to escalate for assistance.
To clearly and accurately identify and mark information in the records which will be released to outside agencies and individuals (restricting information where appropriate), adhering to the Data Protection Act 2018, General Data Protection Regulation and Access to Health Records Act 1990
To record all requests on Datix
To provide reports in activity
Facilitating and leading record viewing with patients, relatives or representatives.
To receive, log and action any incidences of misfiled personal identifiable information.
To deputise for Supervisor in their absence
