As our Assistant HR Advisor, you will provide effective administration and advisory support to managers and employees. You will be responsible for supporting both the HR Manager and the HR Advisor with HR activities including recruitment, payroll, HR system administration, employee relations issues, learning & development, and project work.

**JOB** **CONTEXT**:
1. Provide a professional and efficient point of contact for those contacting the HR team.

2. Support the team with administration duties in all HR activities.

3. Work in line with the Council’s Vision and Values to promote a culture which aims to deliver a high standard of service by working together to exceed our customer expectations.

**MAIN** **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Provide guidance to managers on the recruitment process and assist with all aspects of the recruitment cycle; job adverts, arranging interviews, pre-employment checks, offer letters, welcoming new starters and setting them up on the relevant HR systems.

2. Assist the HR Advisor with absence management, disciplinary, grievance and performance management situations and associated case work by taking minutes / notes at meetings as required.

3. Provide guidance to managers on straightforward breaches of policy for disciplinary and grievance with support from the HR Manager.

4. Assist the HR Advisor with payroll queries, including payroll input and maintenance of data and meeting the necessary deadlines for payroll processes.

6. Use HR systems to manage and progress enquiries, produce documents, record information, analyse and report on relevant data.

7. Assist with the job evaluation process as required including any related administration.

8. Support the delivery of training and development workshops where required.

9. Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures by identifying recurring issues to be progressed and providing feedback.

10. Support HR Projects as appropriate with support from relevant HR colleagues.

**RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESOURCES**:
1. The post holder will be required to ensure that any data systems under his/her control are kept secure and properly managed.

**External**: Residents of the Borough, the General Public, other Local Authorities, external suppliers and consultants, and other external bodies, partnerships and organisations as required.
