Rutherford Briant are looking for a Financial Controller to join a global business based in Braintree.
This role is reporting into a CFO where you will be responsible for leading the UK side of the business while bringing the systems up to speed.
Offering hybrid working, the chance to change the finance function as you see fit and the potential to expand the team as the business continues to grow.
Responsibilities include:
- The Financial Controller will be responsible for the continued development of the finance function. The role will take full ownership of the monthly/annual close process as well as evolving the accounting processes as the business continues to grow.
- The individual needs to be a self-starter and have the drive and ownership to strive for continual improvement, increase diligence and financial controls.
- Preparation and reconciliation of Balance sheet control accounts.
- Process journals including calculation of accruals and prepayments.
- Monitor and maintain the fixed asset register, account for depreciation on a reducing and straight-line basis.
- Oversee purchase and sales ledger ensuring timely close-down for monthly management accounts.
- Ensure purchase and sales ledger queries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner. - Weekly Bank Reconciliations.
- Scheduling of all creditor payments and making the necessary BACS payments.
- Negotiating then purchasing the best rates for foreign currency with FOREX traders.
- Assist in the production of year-end statutory accounts with Auditor.
- Group Consolidated Accounts.
- Process payroll and pension payments ensuring accurate recording of all payroll associated duties. - Reconcile and submit quarterly VAT returns ensuring accurate submission to HMRC - Prepare and submit monthly Intrastat EC Sales for HMRC Returns for theNational Statistics offices.
- Ad-hoc finance projects.
- Record and monitoring of expenses
Requirements include:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
- Proficient experience using Xero or Sage
- Excellent Communicator, ability to work across business functions and multiple legal entities and manage multiple stakeholders
- Strong reporting experience, particularly in management accounts and ability to explain variances to forecast.
- Previous experience of implementation of internal controls and incorporation of these controls into the wider business is important
- Good analytic and systems skills including Excel, SAP.
