Orchard Surgery is situated in Bromborough village and currently have a patient list of nearly 6000 patients in the local area. We are a 3 Partner practice, with 4 salaried GP's, Nurse Clinician, Practice Nurse team, HCA, 3 GP Registrars and a wide team of varied healthcare roles working at the practice.
We are proud to be a recognised training practice and regularly have GP Registrars and medical students working at the surgery completing their GP Training, being mentored by our GP's.
We are also a Military Veteran Support surgery and are part of the Green Impact Project, working towards a more greener, sustainable way of working.
We are looking to recruit a part time GP Receptionist. The role would be to work as part of the reception team, providing first contact for both patients and outside services.
**Main duties of the job**
Duties include: Answering the telephone, booking appointments, answering patient queries via telephone and face to face, triaging patients for the correct type of healthcare, demonstrating confidentiality at all times, liaising with secondary care, pharmacies and other services, paperwork, to work within the guidelines and policies of the Practice, general office duties.
Knowledge of EMISWeb would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
Hours to be confirmed but you will be needed to work both early morning and late evening. Our core opening hours are 8.00am - 6.30pm (Thursday closing is 8.00pm)

£10.90 per hour (paid monthly)
6 months probationary period
Annual leave entitlement is 5 weeks (pro-rata) plus bank holidays.
JOB TITLE: Care Navigator (Patient Services Team)
REPORTS TO: Office Manager
HOURS: 1 post, 16-23 hours per week (hours to be confirmed but will be within the core opening hours 8.00am - 8.00pm. Hours will include a late finish). Core rota will given but flexibility is required to suit business needs.
Job Summary:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Job Responsibilities:
Administration
- To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
- To work in accordance of written protocols
- Handling of medical records
- Read code information identifies through patient contact for example 'Carer'
Dealing with Patients
- Receiving patients consulting with members of Practice team
- Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address
- Provide care navigation in person and over the phone by enquiring about need and signposting accordingly
- Ensure detailed information about complaints or issued are shared with the Office Manager and Practice Business Manager
- Check pink box during every contact and offer services eg: shingles, flu, BP
Appointments
- Process appointment requests with the most appropriate member of the practice team
- Deal with visits requests in line with practice policy
- Booking in domiciliary bloods
Computer
- Add new patient registration forms on to EMIS and follow up with any areas that needs attention
- Process repeat prescription request in accordance with Practice guidelines
- Process registrations for patient access and/or deal with any enquiries
- Creating the blood forms and urine sample forms
- Creating choose and book referrals to the correct dept. and liaising with patients if it is directly bookable
Telephone
- Have working knowledge of telephone system
- Answer calls in a timely manner as a priority
- Chasing results from the different labs
Other Tasks
- Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
- Tasks that you deal with should where possible be dealt with solely by you to avoid unnecessary handover
- Ensure notice boards are tidy and up to date with relevant information
- Ensure patient leaflets are kept up to date
- Support patients to use the health promotion room
