**Key Accountabilities**:

- Delivery and maintaining web solutions
- Work with architects, designers, project managers and engineers to ensure smooth progress from concept to implementation
- Application of policies, procedures, methods, and tools in support of delivery
- Working with the wider team to deliver a product that meets technical and quality criteria
- Support limited legacy systems short term

**Required skills and Experience**
- 2+ years as a software engineer focused on web technologies
- Excellent communication skills and design detail focused
- Ability to robustly line up visual elements across myriad screen sizes with optimal HTML/CSS in one or both of the following pre-processors: Less, SASS
- Modern engineering principles, practices and processes such as OOP, MVC
- Delivering products and native apps in at least one of JQuery, React, Vue, Angular
- Experience of HTML/HTML5
- JSON, as well as creating JSON data objects experience in consuming JSON
- CSS to implement responsive design (including features such as flexbox and grid)
- Version control software (we use a mix of Subversion and Git)
- Write clean code that is secure, scalable, maintainable, and reusable where possible following the SOLID principles.
- Ability to pick up and maintain legacy code.

**Desired skills & experience**
- JSP technologies (JSTL/EL)
- An understanding of Java, JSP scriptlet code
- Exposure to frameworks such as Ruby on rails, Grails or ExpressJS as the MVC and routing patterns
- Site optimisation strategies (caching, compression, etc)
- Experience in working with a CMS
- Accessibility and SEO (with a view to meeting WCAG 2.0 standards)
- Deployment practices, e.g. Docker
- Native apps and releasing to app stores
- Experience in optimising for performance
- Server side languages (e.g. JSP, PHP, ASP)
- SQL (we use PostgreSQL, MS-SQL, Oracle)
- Crafting HTML
- Automated testing tools (e.g. Selenium, Puppeteer) and TDD
- GraphQL
- Agile experience e.g. Scrum, Kanban
