Student Placement Coordinator

The Student Placement Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering student accommodation and placements.
The SPC must ensure that students receive a high level of care across all areas of Hello Exmouth and be part of making positive memories for every young learner that attends a course with us.
This role is primarily Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00.
The role will include being part of the duty team and managing the emergency phone/ doing arrivals and departures for groups. This is shared amongst the rest of the operations team, on a rota basis and paid at an additional rate. This therefore means there can be some work needed outside of your usual hours when students are in situ, so flexibility is required. We acknowledge this via being flexible with working hours in quieter weeks.
**Accountabilities**:
**_Accommodation: _**
- Act as the primary person to place students with local hosts and ensure all placements are completed by the expected deadline
- Be responsible for finding alternatives, should a placement cancel last minute or need changing
- Manage the database of hosts via visiting new and existing homestays and ensuring that they comply with HE regulations and have the necessary documentation
- Lead recruitment of new host accommodation
- Ensure all accommodation lists are correct and complete before being forwarded to the agent in the designated time frames
- Lead communication channels with hosts regarding their bookings + arrival/departure details
**_Safeguarding: _**
- Ensure that the school complies with all British Council requirements with regards to accommodation and care of under 18’s
- Be part of the duty team: weekly emergency phone + arrivals on a shift basis (at an additional pay rate) when students are in situ
- You will be trained to Safeguarding Level 1, and be given informal training to level 2, and form part of the welfare team
- Work with the welfare team to deal with any host related issues
**Role requirements/ key competencies**:
**_Essential_**
- Data accuracy/ attention to detail
- Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours, in order to meet deadline (time in lieu offered in low season to compensate)
- Flexibility to open the school at weekends, if groups require (not regular)
- Excellent IT + smartphone skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to create systems and processes to maintain continuous high standards
- Problem solving + logistics skills
- Positive, proactive and able to use initiative
- Full driving license + own transport, due to location of some visits
**_Desirable: _**
- Knowledge of safeguarding/ the ELT industry
- Background with working with international clients
- Background working within a logístical/planning role
