Cardinal Hume Catholic School’s aim is to develop student’s knowledge of the Catholic faith in a loving and caring learning environment. The Gateshead secondary academy wishes for students to expand their minds and be equipped with the necessary skills, attitudes, knowledge and concepts to succeed. It hopes for students to sustain high academic standards throughout their years in school. The school’s vision is for students to achieve to the highest of their capabilities in light of the Christian teachings and the Gospel values. Cardinal Hume Catholic School has the motto: “Fide, labore, caritate - In faith, hard work and kindness”, and installs this ethos throughout daily school life. Students have the opportunity to extend their experiences beyond the classroom through a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including art club, the debating society, music lessons, our outdoor adventure programme and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Moreover, the school has an excellent reputation for its sports teams and their successes over many years.

Cardinal Hume Catholic School has an excellent local and national reputation. It has been awarded World Class School status, is a successful Teaching School and is also a successful regional Hub School in both Computing and Modern Foreign Languages.
