Job Description

We are looking to recruit a talented Philanthropy Associate to join the Fundraising & Supporter Development (F&SD) team at King’s College London.

King’s College London is an internationally renowned university delivering exceptional education and world-leading research. The University is dedicated to driving positive and sustainable change in society and realising our vision of making the world a better place. The University is currently in the planning stages of a major new philanthropic campaign, which will significantly scale the University’s current fundraising activity.

This is a hybrid role. However, you will be expected to spend at least two days per week onsite at the University.

Please note that the role may adapt as required by the University to meet its fundraising ambitions.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time post.

Key responsibilities
- Support frontline philanthropic fundraising activity, including arranging donor meetings and events, drafting briefing notes for senior academics/leadership, preparing donor meeting collateral, and carrying out desk research.
- Own the delivery and management of internal meetings, working with the Philanthropy Leadership Team to ensure appropriate agendas and materials are provided.
- Work with the Prospect Research team and other stakeholders to assist in identifying and undertaking initial qualification on prospects.
- Liaise across the wider F&SD teams ensuring that the interface between the teams is operating at a high level. Where appropriate, develop and implement new ways of working/processes.
- Support in the project management of initiatives as they relate to philanthropic fundraising.
- Record and track donor activity ensuring accurate maintenance of donor records. Update SharePoint and fundraising CRM with donor activity.
- Circulate donor meeting notes, proposals and reports with the wider team to foster a culture of collaboration.
- Support with gift implementation and ensure that all philanthropic support aligns with the University’s priorities, adheres to the gift acceptance policy and is accurately recorded.
- Liaise with stakeholders across the University to support the implementation of new donor-funded initiatives as gifts are received.

Please note that this role may adapt as required by the University to meet its fundraising objectives. You may be required to work irregular hours in accordance with the needs of the role.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential Criteria
- Proven success of good stakeholder management, comfortable working with senior leaders and ability to build strong working relationships.
- Ability to prioritise, manage conflicting deadlines, work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks to deadline.
- Highly organised and process-orientated with strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to own activities, manage own workload and the ability to collaborate effectively as well as working as part of a large team set-up.
- High level of IT literacy, including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including the use of databases.
- Proven ability to synthesise large amounts of information from a variety of sources, interpret and present clearly.
- Excellent stakeholder management and people skills and ability to work with, and communicate effectively and professionally with, a wide range of individuals. Able to influence and persuade others.

Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge and experience of fundraising and working in a fundraising operation. Familiarity with basic fundraising principles and strategies.
- Interest in philanthropic fundraising, donor relations, prospect research and other areas associated with university-based fundraising.
- Knowledge of a Fundraising Database (e.g. Raiser’s Edge).
