**CLOUD ENGINEER (VIRTUALISATION AND CLOUD)**

**Role Overview**

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced design architect or Cloud specialist to join our Technical Platforms team in any of our UK offices.

The Cloud Engineer plays an integral role in delivering the firm’s datacentre and cloud strategy, architecture and technical capabilities. The role holder will support a multi-year cloud adoption programme, working closely with other technology and informationsecurity stakeholders in the business, and liaising with business change and IT colleagues to effectively translate business and strategic objectives into highly resilient and secure architectures across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The Cloud Engineerwill have the ability to influence and persuade regarding cloud adoption and best practices, and will be expected to partner with developers, administrators, and other roles responsible for implementing hybrid and multi-cloud solutions

**What you'll be doing**:

- Assisting in the drive to deliver the firm’s 'Digital by Default’ strategy, with primary focus on the Datacentre Transformation Programme
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of cloud infrastructure architecture artifacts (reference architectures and product roadmaps) that can be used to support projects and operations
- Ambassador for cloud adoption, assisting in the creation and adoption of a 'Cloud Centre of Excellence’ ethos throughout the business
- Developing and maintaining hybrid cloud provisioning and configuration technologies, utilising Infrastructure as Code for IT and Development Operations. Technologies including but not limited to: Azure ARM templates; Terraform / Bicep; PowerShell; AzurePipelines / Continuous Integration, Git / Version Control
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of the firm’s remote access capabilities, including VPN and Desktop as a Service platforms
- Assisting in the transition of on-premises logging, systems management and monitoring tooling to cloud-based platforms
- Implementing baseline and enhanced security configuration standards for hybrid cloud infrastructure
- Validating cloud infrastructure and other reference architectures for best practices, and recommending changes to enhance security, performance and governance where applicable
- Tracking developments and changes to cloud technologies, liaising with other technology practitioners to share best practices and insights

**What we're looking for**:

- Significant experience in a similar enterprise role
- Demonstrable experience in deployment and management of virtualised environments, including VMware and public cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
- Experience of Microsoft 365 and Azure architectures and frameworks
- Direct experience with identity and access management technologies and services (e.g., Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, LDAP) including relevant protocols e.g., SAML
- Demonstrable knowledge of TCPIP Networking technologies (Cisco advantageous)
- Demonstrable experience of working on mission critical, global systems with appropriate change control procedures, including sound experience of preventative maintenance to optimise availability
