Teaching Assistant 1:1

We wish to appoint a caring, dedicated and experienced **Teaching Assistant** to join the Learning Support team.
To provide specific support on a 1:1 basis under the specific supervision, instruction and guidance of the SENCo.
A level 3 TA qualification would be desirable, as would a specialism in autism/experience working with a student with an autism diagnosis.
- Main Responsibilities_
- To provide specific support for a pupil on a 1:1 basis
- To assist the Head of Learning Development in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment for the pupil
- To promote the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the School
- To ensure resources are available for lessons
- To provide regular feedback to teachers, parents and to other professionals on the pupil’s achievement and progress.
- Have a knowledge and understanding of working with an EHCP
- Specific Responsibilities_
**Support for pupils**
- Under the specific supervision of the class teacher, to work with individual pupil to deliver learning programmes that take into account any additional requirements
- To assist with the general pastoral care of the pupil, including if the pupil is unwell, distressed or unsettled
- To assist the pupil with personal care needs which may include social, health, hygiene and welfare matters.
- To follow pupil’s learning plans, and focus on their targets; also to assist in updating targets every half term
- Be familiar with the pupil’s learning needs and their targets
- To provide feedback on the pupil in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher. This may include feedback on pupil progress in meeting individual Learning Development Plan (LDP) targets
**Support for the School**
- To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, Learning Development/inclusion and data protection reporting all concerns to the appropriate named person
- To assist with the supervision of the pupil out of lesson time but during the school day, within contracted hours as necessary for their safety
- To plan, prepare and accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities within contracted hours as required
- To attend relevant meetings and participate in training opportunities and professional development, as required
- To attend relevant meetings and participate in training and performance development, as required
- To adhere to the school health and safety policy including risk assessment, and the School’s policy on Equality and Diversity
**General duties**
The following list of tasks is indicative of the generic tasks which Teaching Assistants may be routinely asked to do. This is not intended to be an exclusive or exhaustive list.
- Monitoring and recording absences
- Photocopying
- Classroom displays
- Ordering supplies and equipment
- Stock taking
- Cataloguing, preparing, issuing and maintaining equipment and materials
**Performance Review and Appraisal**
- To take part in whole-School reviews of policy and aims
- To evaluate, review and improve own teaching methods, materials and schemes of work
- To keep up-to-date with current educational thinking and practice, both by reading and by attendance at courses, workshops and meetings
- To participate in the school’s appraisal system
**Other**
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, relating all concerns to the appropriate person
- Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all
- Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings and training as required
- Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
Pay: £16,509.00 per year
Licence/Certification:
- Level 3 TA qualification (preferred)
