Housing Officer

**Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Housing Officer to work with one of our Housing Associations in Hertfordshire**
**What the job will be doing**
- To ensure that tenancies are managed appropriately according to the circumstances of the household, making referrals and signposting for support as necessary.
- To regularly review tenants’ circumstances and make recommendations in respect of future housing options.
- To represent Watford Community Housing in Court and at external meetings, acting as a key point of liaison for community stakeholders, including elected representatives and other public officers and agencies, including, where relevant, being the first pointof contact of Resident Associations/representative bodies and working closely with Community Engagement colleagues to coordinate and attend meetings.
- To work collaboratively with other areas of the business to ensure that residents receive a seamless service.
- To reduce debt owed in rent and service charges.
- To manage cases of antisocial behaviour, working in partnership with other teams and agencies as required.
- To manage breaches of tenancy or lease agreements that may arise, taking action as appropriate.
- To monitor estate management services, liaising with external contractors as necessary.
- To undertake regular estate inspections arranging for repairs and other issues to be rectified.
- To undertake regular fire safety inspections
- To involve residents in the management of the area as appropriate.
- To effectively manage void turnaround within the patch to ensure properties are let as soon as is safely possible.
- Ensuring health and safety, equality, regulatory and legal compliance is adhered to in respect of all areas of responsibility.
- Playing a key role in Business Continuity and Emergency planning and response, which may include out of hours work.
**What you will need**
- Customer service skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
- Communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Time management and organisational skills.
- Good IT skills with the ability to use Housing Management software.
- Proven debt management experience.
- Experience of dealing with people in difficult, often stressful, situations.
- Tenancy and neighbourhood management.
- Knowledge of relevant Housing legislation.
