About the role
Alder Close Supported Living & Respite is based in the town of March, Cambs and supports adults with a learning disability to access respite to offer carers a break from their caring role.

The role of Support Worker is to enable adults with a disability to live as independently as possible and to enjoy lifestyles as close to those enjoyed by other members of the community. We support and empower individuals to enhance the quality of their life, maximise potential and to continue to promote and develop independence skills within their home or whilst staying at Respite.

What will you be doing?
You will report to the Senior Support worker and work in a small team providing practical support to our service users, building on their existing skills and abilities whilst respecting their individual needs and choices.

This includes supporting with personal care where needed, cleaning, shopping, and accessing community activities and opportunities. The role will also involve administration of medication.

You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans, risk assessments and will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity.

**The working hours for this role is 28 hours each week.**

**The starting pay for the posts is £12.85 per hour (£19.27 per hour for Saturday hours
- and £22.87 for Sunday hours).**

**As this role is part time, it does not meet the salary requirements for sponsorship to be offered.**

About you
As a Support Worker, it is not essential that you have previous experience of supporting a person with a disability, however, excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as IT skills are required for the role, as is a proficient level of written and spoken English for the purposes of case recording. You will have an NVQ level 2 in Health and Social care or an equivalent qualification.

You will also have the ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, and the Mental Capacity Act as well as the need for safety and confidentiality in the role.
