Support Worker

What will you be doing? You will report to the Senior Support worker, working in a small team to provide practical support, you will build on Service Users existing skills and abilities whilst respecting their individual needs and choices. This includes supporting with personal care where needed, cleaning, shopping, and accessing community activities and opportunities. The role will also involve administration of medication. You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans, risk assessments and will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity. The shifts are on a 4-week rota which could be subject to change to meet service need. These will be during the week, at weekends or Bank Holidays (between 8am- 10pm.). Additional enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays. You will be required to work two weekend shifts, twice a month and complete sleep ins. The starting pay for the posts is £12.18 per hour (£18.27 Saturday hours- £21.68 Sunday hours). We currently have 2 roles available, one for 37 hours and one for 29 hours per week. About you You will need to have a proficient level of written and spoken English for the purposes of case recording and to enable you to work towards a qualification in Health and Social Care if you do not already hold this qualification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and basic IT skills are also required. Previous experience of supporting a person with a disability is not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate, however you will need to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, the Mental Capacity Act and the need for safety and confidentiality in the role.
