The Physiotherapy deparment is looking for a motivated, caring and committed individual to join our acute inpatient therapy team. We are a friendly and dynamic group committed to inter-disciplinary working and professional development.

As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will carry out mobility and exercise programs with patients and assist with initial patient assessments, functional assessments and treatments under the direction of qualified staff. In addition, you will be responsible for general departmental housekeeping duties and general administration duties.

We have weekly protected sessions for departmental in-service training, as well as opportunities to be involved in departmental initiatives.

You will not need any formal qualifications for this post, but you will need to be of a caring disposition, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly within a team.

You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will support Therapists in the delivery of care to patients by providing care in accordance with agreed guidelines and treatment regimes. This may include preparing equipment, tidying the department, administrative tasks, stock control and supervised treatment of patients.

In addition, you will assist patients in physical and functional treatment activities (individually or as part of a group) as directed by the supervising Therapist, limiting scope of practice to those treatments for which training has been given. This could include assisting mobility with a walking aid, fitting splints, supervising exercises etc.

You will also assist in contributing to the service development projects in the department, and will develop and complete relevant competencies set for physiotherapy assistants.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is a District General Hospital providing acute services to the people of West Essex and East Hertfordshire and has a positive and successful approach to developing and delivering health care.

The Hospital is conveniently located in Harlow, Essex just 25 minutes drive to London Stansted Airport and 25 minutes train ride to London Liverpool Street. Harlow also has excellent road connections across England, with the M11, M25, A10, M1 and A1 all on its doorstep.
